Christchurch is a friendly and lively city-centre church with a history of involvement with students. Our aim is to know Jesus and make Him known.
Around 150 students join us on Sundays, usually at 7pm. We welcome people looking into Christianity, as well as those already following Jesus. Many different students come to Christchurch while they are in Durham - British, international, undergrads, postgrads, people from all kinds of denominational backgrounds - do join us!
Gripped by the gospel of Jesus Christ
Our prayer is that we’d be gripped by Jesus Christ as we meet him in his word, so that we might trust him, obey him, and live for his glory.
A family of believers
One of the great joys of following Jesus is being adopted into a family of other believers who encourage and support us in the Christian life. Many students have found that Christchurch is a great place for making solid Christian friends, and we want to do all we can to help you to build those friendships. The best way to settle in and meet others is to join one of our mid-week Bible study groups, Focus (for all students) or iFocus (for international students).
Seeking to reach out to the university
We are passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with other students in Durham. Sharing the gospel is exciting and yet daunting, and we are eager to draw alongside students as they speak about Jesus to those around them. We also run a termly Christianity Explored course for those with big questions.
